First week: students, one programme at a time.
Add each programme’s group as term starts. Students set up the XFA app on the laptop or phone they already have. It needs no admin rights.
During the year: visiting lecturers.
Guest lecturers and part time tutors get the same check as staff. If they also teach somewhere else that uses XFA, the app shows each institution’s checks on its own tab.
End of year: graduates and leavers.
Remove their account in your identity provider. Nothing was enrolled, so there is nothing to wipe.

Do students have to install anything?
Yes, the XFA app, on the laptop or phone they use. Their first sign-in walks them through the install, which needs no admin rights. The app checks security settings and takes no control of the device.
What the XFA app doesAre phones checked too?
Yes. A phone that opens university email gets the XFA app, on iPhone or Android. XFA checks what a phone has, such as the passcode and the operating system version. To fix something, the app opens a step by step guide.
What can the university see on a student’s laptop?
Whether each check passes, basic device details such as the model and operating system, and the person’s university email. XFA does not collect private messages or emails, personal files, browsing history, screen recordings or screenshots, passwords, or location data.
How XFA handles privacyHow do five hundred first years set up XFA?
At their first sign-in, XFA asks each student to set up the XFA app, and asks again at every sign-in until they do. If you block, the device gets no access until it is compliant. XFA also sends the invitation and reminders by email, Slack, or Microsoft Teams. Your IT team doesn't touch it.
